Lauren Koonce

Lauren is a second-year master’s student from Seattle, WA. Her research focuses on climate-related groundwater dynamics and the risks sea level rise poses to underground infrastructure, including the corrosive behavior of salt-infused groundwater and the potential for hydrogen sulfide accumulation in these buried systems. She uses groundwater modeling to evaluate how rising coastal water tables may alter subsurface conditions over time, with the goal of supporting long-term resilience planning.
Outside of the lab, Lauren spends her free time in the mountains, climbing volcanic peaks around the PNW and taking on bigger high-altitude treks around the world with her family.
